Heartland Hospice
Shawl and Lap Blanket
Prayer Project

(First Sunday of every month,
1:00 - 2:30 pm) |
Our last charitable project of 2010 revisited a service project from the past—prayer shawls. Studio customers have been busy making shawls and lap blankets for patients who are receiving palliative care through Heartland Hospice. These shawls and blankets provide comfort to people who are in the end stage of their lives and often become treasured memories of their loved ones for family members.
This project “officially” ended on January 9, but the Studio customers who have become involved have decided to take this charitable activity year-round and continue to make shawls and blankets for hospice patients.
The first Sunday of every month, from 1 to 2:30 pm, is the designated turn-in time for shawls and blankets. Nancy McDonnell, a Studio volunteer, will be at the shop on those days to distribute donated yarn, provide information, share patterns and lead prayers over the shawls and blankets before she takes them to the Heartland Hospice offices. Hospice volunteers will see that the shawls and blankets are distributed to patients.
